COVID-19 May Update
May 1, 2020 – Dr. Paul
Dear Patients,
This is without question a trying time for all of us. I hope that our families are staying well both physically and emotionally. I want you to know that we are here for you during this pandemic. I would like to update you on some of the changes we have made in response to COVID-19. We are open and operating under new, safer office guidelines so that we can remain available to you, both in person and online.
We are currently seeing patients in the morning for well visits only, spaced out every 30-40 minutes, with thorough sanitation of rooms in between patients. One of our main priorities is ensuring that we keep all patients, particularly those under the age of two, on the recommended vaccine schedule. We are following the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) which recommends continuing all well visits, and additionally being available via telemedicine appointments. Although we have been doing telemedicine already for almost 2 years, we have had an uptick in these virtual visits, and our families seem to very much appreciate this option. These visits can be scheduled by calling our office and can be performed with a smartphone, iPad or computer.
In the afternoons, we are open and seeing patients inside the office for noninfectious problems, thinly scheduled, again with thorough sanitation between all visits and all rooms. We are seeing patients with fever and/or respiratory symptoms (cough, runny nose, difficulty breathing) in the parking lot under the huge tree just east of our building, later in the afternoon, using full protective gear. I will continue to follow CDC and AAP guidelines with safety being the number one priority. We ask that you not walk into our office without a phone call first. If you have a mask, bring it with you. Please share with us any and all symptoms, recent travel, COVID-19 exposure, etc. I will not exclude anyone from getting the care they need. I would suggest that you not go to the ER or urgent care clinics without a call to our office first, as I would not want any unnecessary exposure of my patients.
Best wishes to all of you,
Doctor Paul
