COVID-19 March 2021 Update
Mar 15, 2021 – Dr. Paul
As this pandemic continues, we hope all our families are staying well. Many of us have been through this novel virus, and some have even lost a loved one to this disease as I did (my father passed away in October.) I would encourage any of you who are eligible to receive one of the vaccines available:. http://vaccine.hcdpbc.org The vaccine is being studied in children and we will have more information as the months pass. Some experts expect the vaccine to be available to older (>12) school aged children by the end of the summer. There is light at the end of this tunnel! In Florida, newly reported. cases, hospitalizations and deaths are trending downward.According to CDC data which is updated daily, 63% of those 65 and older and 21% of our total population have received at least 1 dose of the vaccine. Amazing.
We continue to proceed cautiously with our office procedures and scheduling:
Booking one well visit every 30 minutes early in the morning and early in the afternoon leaves us time to see sick children later in the mornings and afternoons, outside at the back door of the office in full protective gear.
We try our best to have only one family inside the office at a time, which is at times difficult if patients are running late or if a visit takes longer than expected. With this in mind, we ask you to please be on time; we also will do our best to run on time.
We ask that you try to keep space between yourselves and other families that you may encounter in our office, and always wear your masks.
We continue to aggressively do surface and air sanitation (we have HEPA filters for the exam rooms).
When you arrive at the office, please wait for the screening protocol, a temperature and screening questions before entering the main office area.
We have been seeing all well visits (checkups) inside the office. Sick visits that involve fever and/or respiratory symptoms are always seen outside in the parking lot at the back door of the office. When you drive up to the Suite 100 door at the back of the building, head towards the eastward direction. We are continuing to do certain noninfectious visits inside the office when appropriate.
We answer our emails as able during the day. Please remember: email is not for urgent matters.
Virtual visits at doxy.me/bocachild are scheduled throughout the day as needed. These virtual appointments must be scheduled ahead of time by phone with our staff.
We are able to offer COVID-19 PCR nasal swabs; turnaround times have been 4-5 days, which to me is unacceptable. We have been referring patients who require testing to the Town Center or FAU testing sites. We have been getting good feedback from our patients from these testing locations. Results for rapid antigen testing is almost immediate, and PCR results within a day or two. We ask that you always share the results with us for inclusion in your child’s medical chart.
Call or email us at any time. Seek out help if you or a child needs mental health support. I would encourage school attendance if proper safety protocols are in place.
Warm regards,
Doctor Paul
