Welcome Letter

If you are the parent of a newborn, congratulations on this wonderful blessing for your family! We are here to serve not only as your child’s physician, but also to help you through some of the baby issues that inevitably arise when parents bring a new life into their home. Although we are currently accepting newborns and their siblings into the practice, we have had to temporarily defer accepting into the practice new families of older children. This is for the time being and can change in the near future, so check back with us at a later time! I would like to recommend some resources for you that can help with all sorts of issues which arise as you strive to raise a happy and healthy family. The “Recommended Links” tab in the Resources section is where you will find these links which have been researched and vetted by me. We will continue to add new links and information over time.

There are several colleagues who at times fill in for me inside the office when I am away.  I am fortunate to rotate after hours and weekend coverage with Doctors Jack Blanco, Jerry Wexler, and Suzanne Laskas of Boca Raton Pediatric Associates. This coverage occurs on Thursday afternoons,  nights and weekends. Sick patients are seen Saturday mornings either at our office or at the covering doctors’ office, depending on who is on call for the weekend. I receive a doctor note including labs, whenever one of our patients is seen at their office. On nights and weekends, the doctor on call (either myself or one of the other three) is available to speak to you in case of an true emergency. The number to call is always the same however: 39CHILD (561-392-4453.)

Our pediatric nurse Alice has been with us for many years and has helped many by sharing her advice and experience on the phone. She is currently working Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We are fortunate to have pediatric nurse Jina as well. She joined our team in 2018 and she is particularly adept at immunization protocols and digital communication. As a pediatric nurse she also can advise you with her training and experience. Both Alice and Jina continually communicate with me on all medical calls into the office. Anastasia handles the front desk and administrative duties. Kelly works off site as our billing and insurance expert.

In 2008, we introduced an annual family fee. This makes it possible for us to schedule visits in a way that allows adequate time to answer questions, offer guidance,  and build some rapport with your child in an unrushed way. It also allows for access to our website, which has licensed and high quality medical information relevant to the care of your child. The fee also makes it possible as a solo physician to have the time to provide medical care by email (for nonurgent matters), at your home if needed, and with virtual visits. We are attempting to maintain a traditional and personal private practice, but one that can also offer families the attention needed in nontraditional formats.

I look forward to working together with you toward your child’s good health! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to discuss them with me.
Sincerely,

Paul Christakis, MD
